Should I consult an interior designer to furnish my house?
I've lived in it almost 3 years now. Objectively it's a pretty nice house. A little lacking in space but that's fine with with me since I feel it makes it more quaint and not so barren with a ton of extra space.
It already has painted walls and hardwood floors. I'm going for a kind of rustic cabin-esque theme, and want to spruce up the place. I just have a mish-mash of hand me down furniture. I'm starting to get over what my cousin thinks and will just decorate how I want. I also am considering more costly upgrades like stone veneers on the walls and such.
This is a general idea of what I'm going for...

No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

You should, as long as it's someone with good taste and that's also professional. Ask to see their portfolio of projects and If you see things you like in their work then deff it's a good investment. They can also help with interior renoviations as you say a stone tiled wall would look great with the rustic cabin look.
Lots of people will say it's a waste of money to go trough someone when doing interior design but it's very time consuming, looking for the pieces that go with the style, measuring and comissioning courtains and so on and son. It adds up to a lot of small things that will take a lot of your time and you may end up abandoning because of it. Better to have someone with good taste help you out.
I'm an architect and projects 100% end up better when an interior designer is involved vs when its self furnished. Look into local furniture/design shops, lots of them will do the design part for free as long as you buy their pieces.
Cliffs:
Do it

Yes, if you really want to AESTHETICSMAXX. Most people have a combination of terrible taste and not enough time/money to cultivate a specific look.
Most people think it's only for MONEYMOGGERS, but even if you spend $1k just to consult with someone, they can get you headed down the right path.
