One of my all-time top 10s, no question.

Love using the 'I have to return some video tapes' line when leaving to see if people are aware.

Also lol hard at the cab scene where Patrick and his bish are sitting in the cab not speaking to each other and he has headphones in. Considered 100% normal behavior in 2020.

But that's the whole point of the book/movie. The narrator is an unreliable psychopath. Not to be a big litcel but the entire trope is that you have no way to know if any of them are real, you just know that some of them were definitely fake.

He's a psycho who wants to be caught for murders that he maybe committed or maybe just fantasized about, but no matter what he does people barely recognize him slash give him the attention he craves and the only ones who do don't do it the way he wants-- like the ghey dude, for example.

But obviously, the one on Paul Allen was not real, since the lawyer Pat called to confess, told him he actually had lunch with him in London twice (which is ironically where Pat wanted to set Paul's location of being)

Can anyone explain why he pretended to be Paul Allen when banging those two hookers, and beating them at the end?

That lawyer, like everyone else in the film, mistook Paul Allen for someone else (he also mistakes Patrick Bateman for "Davis" in that same scene). It's the whole point of the ending, and the movie. Everyone is a superficial and self-absorbed carbon copy of each other, so that Bateman can literally get away with murdering someone and no one will even notice.

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.

You have to be a twisted fuk deep down inside to write the stuff in the book. I'm glad they toned the violence back and focused more on the dark humor.

This makes sense indeed, but still does not completely explain why he would fuk the two hookers and tell them he is Paul Allen right after he felt like the detective was on to him? I thought he might be trying to create some bad name on Paul. You know, he disappeared, had been fuking hookers, etc.

Also, who was the limo driver, driving Pat? Surely not a good way of Pat to stay undercover talking to the hooker like that saying his name is Paul Allen. Maybe it really didnt happen?
