FFS... as if 2020 couldn't get anymore frustrating.

Ive been looking for some seasonal type work to supplement what I have. Lost some serious cash earlier in the year due to due various BS so was looking to recoup it.

Employer A calls me yesterday and offers ideal position with the details in writing position can be remote if covid BS locks everything down. I accept offer A and inform employer B who I told i needed a day to think about it I took another position and need to pass.

Employer A calls me today and informs me they are now on a hiring freeze because of covid and the position is not going to be remote (uwutm8).Not sure when they are going to hire for it blah blah.

Ive reached back out to employer B but not holding my breath. WTF is up with this non sense? Anyone have something happen similar?

If the job offer was a formal legal contract and you both signed and dated, they are legally obligated to honor the contract in a court of law. They can't breach, unless it was not a formal legal contract, signed and dated by both parties.
But yes, all kinds of shenanigans happen in the busines world unfortunately. That's why legal documentation is so important.
Not sure what kind of business you're in or how reputable these employers are but sounds like next time don't be so quick to tell Employer B. Call in sick For B until after Employer A is confirmed if you have to.
Hopefully your current B will take you back meantime.

The situation unfortunately with both employers was pretty formal in the sense no written agreements/documentation is in play. Im a freelancer right now so I'm not employed currently with either. Employer B might still get back to me im hoping. I would have rocked the boat more with employer A but I have a family member working there so its a no-win situation.

The reason why I told employer B that soon is because they asked me to give them an answer within a day because they are on a deadline and I already spent the day and was pretty sure the other situation was a lock. I didn't want to be disrespectful to their requests/timeline.

If anything this thread shows the scumbaggery of employers these days.

True but they were putting the pressure on after i talked with them acting like they needed an answer no later than a particular time. I already told them I needed an extra day and it was like I was already on thin ice. I was trying to be respectful of that but I guess I should've just ignored it and waited lol. Either way screw these employers and their tactics.

Not sure if location is really Switzerland but employers are scum bags here in the states. There is an embarrassment of riches in terms of candidates so they treat people like tools. Is what it is.
