defunding the police will be a nightmare for cities like Detroit and Chicago

A lot of these cities ALREADY can't handle the amount of crime and car accidents and are understaffed. i mean who is really lining up to be a police officer in Detroit or NYC? how will this fare when they lose funding..

Defunding the police is not entirely impossible, but you would have to send certain nationalities of people back to their country of origin .
The cops would have virtually nothing to do , and get laid off regardless

These feels. I live in an ivory tower in a city with virtually no crime, gated community, 24/7 security and cameras everywhere. When I see libs spewing garbage about the police sometimes I just want to egg it on and watch the world burn.

It will fail, but the powers at be will have to learn the hard way. EMS, social workers, mental health workers and others will still need a scene to be secure and safe before they enter. If they choose to just send those workers in, they will be plenty of people hurt and deaths.

It's a terrible phrase that I think most sensible lefties don't agree with

Police need more funding but they also need to decrease their scope of practice to what they're meant to do, solve crime, and deal with potentially violent criminals. Defund the police really means a reallocation of assets to have other professionals deal with situations where a normal cop doesn't have the training to properly deal with. For example, why are two street cops sent to deal with a crazy homeless dude when a psych nurse or some sort of mental health expert and single cop as protection would be much better?

Lol yeah, have a Canadian brah friend that has a small armory (srs) and occasionally after his wife tanks a bottle of wine the conversation moves to "Rey, we have a plan if things go south", not the best dinner party to bring a second date to, but it's good to know they're prepared.
