This bullchit is exactly why I am not a Unitarian Universalist (srs). Decided to check them out a couple of years ago and it was all about transgender acceptance and the bleeding edge of social justice. This is what you get when you have empathy without any sensibility constraining it. Just terrible. These people are so misguided that it's honestly sad.

Nope.
Saw the mom grab the kid and head towards the podium and that was enough for me.

I'm cool with transgenders. They don't bug me. But kids don't think about that **** unless it's put into their heads. I guess I'm just not "progressive" enough when it comes to ****ing with the livelihood of children.

I think having kids around the same age and knowing how their brains work kind of hits more of a chord with me.
My kids still can't figure out that we have a boy dog and a girl dog. Like gender doesn't register to them. So this is 100% something brought on by the parents at this age.

I guess you're right, and I'm not sure why this, in general makes me so uncomfortable. I don't even know if it's for the kids sake (which, let's be honest, being trans is cool, now). The whole point of having kids is to mold them into mini versions of yourself. You imprint them with your religion, politics, humor, social values, hobbies, etc. This is right in line with that.

It's uncomfortable because it's against our value system. If miscers saw a dad trying to mold his son into a jacked alpha male right winger trump fan, no one would have a problem.

Let kids be kids. When I was four I wasn't even forming the concept of sexuality, gender conformity, rasism didn't even exist in my mind etc.

Noooo. The whole point of raising kids is to mold them into better people than you. The biggest thing, especially these days, is letting the kids actually be kids and find their own personalities.

Imo, adult subject matter doesn't belong in a child's vocabulary. Politics being a big part of that. You know what a four year old should be concerned with? How to tie their shoes or clean up their toys after playtime or learning how to be kind to animals.

What ISN'T political these days? EVERYTHING is. The food they eat, the clothes they wear, the little kids shows they watch, which devices they have, who they are allowed to play with, and every other aspect of their lives. Even if you aren't actively preaching to them, every decision you make for them is guided by your own views that you are passing to them.

Hell, the kids shows mine watch probably aren't diverse enough for the political climate.
My kids are way better people than me, so I'm just trying to nurture that as best as I can. Jamming my own views down their throats just seems backwards. My kids are weirdly opposite from me and think pretty independently. Having a favorite color is one thing... But gender just isn't in their head. That's the part that's off to me. Not to mention the public display part. You want Johnny to become Jenny or whatever, sure go for it. But like... Why does it have to be a viral video? Just seems self serving.
