What are some signs that indicate you grew up poor?
For me, I always used the stove as a heater because we only had one heater in the house. We had one window unit air conditioner.
I also use bread for hamburger buns, hotdog buns, and "rolls."
I ate mac n cheese, bread, and French fries for a meal.
I wore the same clothes two to three times a week. They were clean, but I had no other choices.
What some other signs someone grew up poor?

think a luxury car brand (mercedes, audi, bmw) is an important status symbol

The job doesn't even have to be good. It just has to pay for it.

Never paying for services like lawncare, home/car maintenance, unless you have no choice. Doing everything yourself.
I still drive a shiitbox and fix it myself even though I can afford something much better

You know how people with money can just up and go to any restaurant they want, without worrying how much they have to spend? And how they can do it often? And how they eat whatever they want on the menu?
For me, growing up, going to McDonald's was like that. Dead srs. If mom could afford a happy meal, that was my fancy eating for the month. Otherwise, it was a double cheeseburger and we'd ask for an extra bun to make two hamburgers out of it.
Also, going to Pensacola was a vacation, like how people plan to go to Europe. That was my vacation. I went to the beach once in like 15 years.

Always finishing everything on your plate when you eat, a wealthy person can leave food on their plate and not feel guilty.

Not having a constant supply of electricity without various power outages through the day
Having clean potable water nearby
Not having piles of trash on the streets
Are we talking about real poverty or first world poverty?

I thought everyone kept their bar of soap in the plastic tofu container? No? That and using plastic grocery bags as luggage.

srs answers:
- talking openly about salary. Friends that grew up poor but have good jobs now talk openly about how much they make, save, stuff like that. Old money and 'class' keeps that stuff hidden
- look in their kitchen. Can be a nice house but if they grew up poor their kitchen will still be stocked with Oreos, 2 liters, frozen pizzas, other poverty food
- spending money they dont have on displays of wealth. Basically things like luxury cars that are leased and new. Wealthy people are smart with money. Buying a new car isn't smart.
- hobbies. If someone has never been abroad, never done wealthier hobbies like go skiing, surefire sign

Checking price tags. I’m so good at percentages and adding chit (being asian help) up now I have my month’s budget the day I get my paycheck. Dunno how people can just buy chit without looking at the tag
