Mind Blown At The Brachistochrone Problem
Cliffs: Solves the problem of finding the quickest route from point a to b when traveling through different mediums. It gets weird when light gets involved.

It’s a fun problem. A lot of people think the quickest path would be a straight line, but no.
Another case of mistaken identity: some think the curve made by a hanging wire attached to two poles is a parabola...it’s not, it’s a hyperbolic trig function.
The cycloid, which is the curve that answers the brachistochrone problem, also is a source of confusion: no, the path traced by a point on a constantly rolling circle is not a circle...it’s a cycloid.
