American brahs, do you not have these windows? wtf

So I'm scrolling through youtube and end up on a video of some sloot who's amazed by windows in Germany being able to open and tilt. (i thought it was a joke video at first)

at1:44

what kind of poverty ****ing windows do you have when this is something out of the ordinary!? This has been the standard in Europe for the last 30-40 years, even the most poverty of homes have them

edit: better example:

I have chitty sliding windows from left to right that are made of aluminum. Can't put an window AC unit in it. And every morning i wake up with massive condensation which leads to mold issues.

"german windows are amazing" literally a video of her face with a fraction of the window visible

fukin narcissist

for real though yeah in the US we almost exclusively use sliding windows, either vertical or horizontal but casement windows exist that hinge outwards by crank

my grandma's place in finland has pretty fukin sick hinged windows with internal blinds that could be configured all sorts of ways for winter or summer

I'm always amazed by tornadoes leveling entire neighbourhoods in the US. Like, what type of retard do you have to be to build a house with wood in a tornado area?

Eh, every single house where I live has an AC. That's not an excuse. You still have to let in some air from time to time, that's why you use the tilt function. And from what I've seen, your AC's are poverty as well. Window ACs? lmao

We may not have that particular style of window in common usage, but you know what a vast majority of the homes in the US have that seems to be practically nonexistent in Euroland? Central air and heat, so we can control the temperature and humidity levels of our homes with the touch of a button instead of constantly adjusting windows like a savage.

The previous owner of my old house was some old couple and he had respiratory issues. He installed a monster whole house electrostatic air filter.

Changed my life srs. Never opened my windows and barely had any visible dust ever. In my new place, it feels like I'm living in a barn and I sneeze 10x more.

Most American houses are tract homes built with cost efficiency in mind, not historical buildings or vintage style dwellings. So cheap sliding glass windows and doors are probably most common.

That's what I don't quite get. When I think of building a house, I want that **** to last hundreds of years and have AAA energy efficiency. I don't want to build some poverty house.

Nothing worse than traveling abroad and seeing those airconditionerlets on the wall. When will they learn?

Windows get opened on beautiful days but just lmao if you don’t have a fresh air valve on your central air for the rest of the year.

Um, we have central heating from a boiler.

We had covnection heaters way back in the 60s and 70s. They're old fashioned and only old people have them now if they're poor.

A/C units can be bought with a proper unit situated externally to pump in warm or cold air depending on the conditions. But EU and uK dont live in a fukin swamp/desert/frozen waste land like the USA does.

Idk how it is an Europe, but over here there will be a new planned development where there's several "model homes" consisting of different floorplans that people can tour. From there you can choose upgrades and one of them would be certain types of windows/shutters/tile etc. The sliding windows are like the base model.

You could definitely build a custom home that way as well, but it's pricey.

Fkn Eurocucks. Using our secondary A/C systems (mini splits) as primaries and thinking having fancy windows makes up for it. JFL...
