Day 6 of Keto and I bought a Monster
Took a sip and felt so sick of how sweet it is. Straight to the bin. srs
Never really thought I was so desensitised to sweeteners/sugar/sweet taste.
I am sticking out this diet for a few months, this could be good af.

In fact, according to most guides and papers, it should even get better a few weeks in.
Hasn't even increased my food bill here in the UK because now I am completely gorging myself with cheap chicken and pork cuts.

There is nothing magical about it - big controlled papers say its mostly caloric deficit as we know. However, it can have appetite supressing abilities (which is important for achieving this caloric deficit) and it can help fatter people through metabolic pathways to feel better.
Example today:
intermittent fasting so ground black coffee
lunch - 2 big pork chops covered with cheese slices and then another black coffee (when I foken binned that Monster mate)
dinner- like 10 chicken wings with 250 grams of mixed vegetables (broc, cauli and carrot - whatever the frozen mixed bag on sale has)
after the lunch and coffee I was flying with energy
chuck in the oven for 20-30 min, eat from the roasting tray, wash up the tray and that's it

Keto is an extreme diet. Not only do you limit carbs, but you also have to limit protein. So essentially all you're eating is fats.
And since most meats high in fat are also high in protein (almost a 1-to-1 ratio of fats vs protein), it basically means you're gonna have to eat meats with tons of condiments like salad dressing, mayonaisse, habenero sauce etc...
When I tried keto for a month it did help me lose fat.
But it also cause diarrhea, insomnia and brain fog.
Also keep in mind that keto raises your SHBG levels which will keep you feeling flat in your workouts.
You won't feel it at day 6, but trust me you'll feel it at day 15.

Never heard about brain fog - only that it cures bran fog from the constant glucose rollercoaster that is a with moderate to high carbs.
IDK about feeling flat - if I have enough bloat to not look good with carbs whats the point.

most benefits people doing keto for the first time notice are because they are insulin resistant
stick to it for a bit your insulin sensitivity will be improve dramatically, then a couple months down the line slap carbs back in and you'll be living it up
but srs ive decided keto seems to destroy bbers and skinny guys drive and energy because they are much more insulin sensitive who deal with carbs the way the body should and immediately use it for fuel and store the extra as glycogen, whereas the fat guy at the office teetering on type 2 diabetes will notice a huge improvement mentally from not having his body pump out excessive amounts of insulin and going through the constant ups and downs of chit glucose levels.
op srs i'll love you forever if you do this if you have a glucose meter measure your glucose when you first wake up then right before your first meal of the day and see where its at. I'll bet its sitting pretty in the 100's for both measurements

Thats exactly what I plan to do - lean up with it and then after establishing an actual healthy baseline incorporate carbs.
Btw, wouldnt you say that even lean and active bbers would still feel fine after properly adapting tho? I am not sure if the evidence support inferior muscle-building on keto.
LOL, I would do that srs but I dont have a meter. Might pick up a kit from Boots tho srs

Myself personally, I couldn't last more than a month. The diarrhea and insomnia alone were enough to drive me nuts.
Also, from what I've research, the ideal ratio is 2:1 -- 2 grams of fat for every 1 gram of protein. Some have argued that if you stray outside of this ratio that you're not really in keto mode. That is too extreme for me. Since most fatty meats have essentially a 1:1 ratio of Fat vs Protein, I'd basically be limited to eating ground beef and loading up on cheese, mayonaise and other fatty condiments to achieve a 2:1 ratio.

Started keto August 1st & loved it. Been out of ketosis for a month now, still low carb though and down 31lb so far, including 4lb in the last week and mostly fat loss. Keto was a great appetite suppressant for me, no brain fog and no cravings. Never counted calories, but controlled portions. I'm pretty sure I was insulin resistant. Checked my blood sugar the other morning after I got up and it was 93. I've found if I check it a few hours after getting up but before food I'm in the 80s. Planning to slowly add carbs back in about another month or so.

FYI your body leaves ketosis when you have too much protein.
