Why are PS5 selling out so quickly (srs)

-Just a handful of next gen games which don't really even look that much better than PS4 games

The jump from PS1 to PS2 was huge in terms of graphics and new selections of games

PS4 to PS5 doesn't look that much different tbh

You're really only gonna get marginal gains between generations from here on out. PS1 to PS2 was the biggest gains followed by PS2 to PS3. PS3 to PS4 looks to be about the same gains as PS4 to PS5

PS5 not really work it right now tbh. Xbox is kinda worth it since a lot more upgrades are coming to Xbox and not to PS5. Something to do with the amount of coding required, apparently PS5 is a lot harder than Xbox to update.

At this point(and for the last 10+ years) “hype” is only created by the people looking to resell and turn a profit. Goes for all “hype” markets.

But yea it’s going to be a long squeeze here on out in terms of graphic improvements.

Best games on PS4 are: new horizon: zero dawn, I liked becoming human, god of war, ghost of Tsushima. I don’t think they came out until a few years later.

So it’s probably not worth getting it until 4-5 years later when they have more on there.

All consoles get a ton of hype when they are first released. In the USA, the Xbox 360 didn't have that many games at first but kept selling out like crazy.

Most of the generational leaps will be more about other things like AI, solid state drives, physics, speed, etc. etc. rather than just pure graphical performance.

Cyberpunk 2077 is around the corner, that alone makes the PS5 worth it. And then a lot of PS4 games are getting upgraded

You don't think Demon's Souls looks next gen, especially since it's 60fps? What about Ratchet and Clank? Or the Unreal 5 demo (which was playable, not an "in-engine" cut scene or something).

The days of 100x increase in "flops" are long gone.

Christmas, gamercels and of course people who are buying up consoles to resell. I know a guy who made $1300 selling his PS5. Another guy who traded it for some super rare Jordan’s or some chit that are worth like $1500.

I was looking at Xbox and said the same.

There are no games for it, only updates of previous games.

Also, I felt like the Xbox One had very few games to begin with.

I like real games where you have to plan and figure things out, but Xbox had mostly online games which I think are boring and dumb. People running around shooting with no strategy is totally boring. Meanwhile, playstation had a lot of cool exclusives.

So, I am not buying the Xbox until YEARS from now so I can see what direction they are going in.

Overall, it is weird to have units released without exciting games to go with. It's a strange strategy but I guess they know many will just want the units to have them, and it's not immediately about games.

Bunch of a poverty brahs in here without a PS5.

Legit next gen console. Fk the graphics, the Dualsense is the game changer. The control makes you feel like the things happening on screen are happening to you because you are feeling the feedback from the interactions....it is incredible.

I play games like I watch movies though.

I play a couple of missions, a few hours go by, and I still do my work and productive hobbies.

Well I think you can see the direction they are headed in.
-They want you on game pass.
-They went from like 4 first party studios in 2013, to 23 now. They have repeatedly said they want stronger first party content. Their studios are hiring top talent from Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, etc.
-Even at this point, I don't think the "no games" holds any weight. They are no longer the "gears, forza, halo only" console maker. But I do agree that their launch lineup is extremely weak.

If the teraflop advantage was so huge, does slightly later devkits even matter? Series X should be crushing ps5 either way yet the opposite is taking place.

I think it changes nothing about what I said. Dev kit timelines, optimization all play a role. You are mocking it, but it IS legitimate. Why do you find it hilarious? I think the Valhalla patch proves that. It's too early to make a definitive statement either way. People who analyze graphics for a living have said as much. I won't be upset if ps5 does end up being a bit stronger, but my AMD statement (assuming equal flops on AMD tech, CU's is more important than clocks) is accurate. Not to even mention the memory bandwidth differential. All I'm saying is wait and see, but you already made up your mind. Developing a game for a new devkit isn't pressing a button.

Oh, and Dirt 5 developers have literally already said that the series x version needs a patch. And in black ops, the series x version holds 60 in the ray tracing mode while the ps5 dipped to the 40's. Developers have also said the dev kit schedule made things more difficult. You can't just cherry pick this stuff, and I don't have a horse in this race (I'm not emotionally invested either way, and will be enjoying both consoles).

So true, at this point all consoles are just gaming PC's subsidized by the Manufacturer to get them into peoples homes. Until we have breakthroughs in PC power/ or VR AI/Brain computer interfaces etc. The consoles will continue to just be cheap PC's with proprietary OS's.

Video games are pretty much at their peak until the next tech breakthrough in the space.
