Coach who let girl kick in ncaa game Saturday fired today

I'm glad. Such a stupid antic for no reason. What would happen if she actually had to tackle someone if there was a return? Basically being a man short iron the field just to get publicity. He deserved the firing.

Tackling? We need to lower the bar some. Let her start consistently kicking the ball over 20 yards before we even consider tackling.

Vanderbilt plays perennial powerhouse Georgia this week. Even if she's still rostered, there is a 0% chance she sees the field, even for a chitty squib kick like last week.

They had no other kickers available apparently. You would think at least one person on the team could manage better than that pitiful kickoff she did.

The real question is if you were on the returning team would you take it easy on her with the blocking or would you give her the smoke?

Good firing. Teams should be trying/spending time to get w's not promote this pathetic SJW agenda. No female will ever sniff an nfl field.

1st off - they squibbed it on purpose, so that there was no return, so you are wrong on that.

2nd - even if there was a return they could have told her to stay back and not try to tackle. Lou Holtz told his kickers to do that after getting one injured.

3rd - he was fired bc the team is horrible and has regressed. They had the whole nation watching and couldn't even get into fcking field goal range ONE time against a mediocre Mizzou team.

edit for all the unaware miscers

it wasn't an SJW thing intentionally. They seriously had no kickers left. Usually a team would just have a kid from the boys soccer team play, but they have no mens soccer team, and while they're are probably dudes at Vanderbilt who kicked in highschool who would have been fine, they are not currently in the SEC covid testing protocol and it takes a week or so I think of testing to get entered.

Either way, she was an SEC athlete under the covid testing protocol and this how it went down. In the end it did make for a photo-op that was SJW like, but I guarantee that was not the original intention.

I'd love to see her run down the field to attempt a tackle.

smoke. she is strong woman equal to any uniformed man on the field. also, she is like 6'2 or something. bigger than a lot of other players on the field.

I'm honestly surprised Mason lasted as long as he did. He wasn't a good coach. The SEC threatened Vandy a while back about not putting enough money into football to make them at least halfway decent and that's when they threw a bunch of money out trying to land Malzahn and ended up with James Franklin. Looks like they may need to do it again

In highschool one of the teams we played fielded a female quarterback for half the game, she could throw surprisingly well and more accurate than their male QB

She got the **** sacked out of her twice by our linebackers though, the second tackle our coachs ssssh'd us "Guys, shes a girl, calm down" lmao

Any rostered punter could have outkicked her. And since they never scored in the game, they certainly used a punter.

Also, if you noticed, she kicked and immediately ran to the sideline. She also had to have a holder because, I guess, kicking off a tee is too challenging. They should be glad a return wasn't attempted, because the kicking team was basically down 2 defenders.

I mean letting the girl kick was a dumb stunt, but he got fired because his team got blown out 41-0 by a Mizzou team that's not even good.

This all sounds reasonable.

I personally enjoyed watching her jiggle those drumsticks out on the field for a moment.

The kick wasn't bad either, for a girl.

I see nothing wrong with her kicking, you incels need to stop complaining about women so much. Let mother nature take it's course, she kicks the ball and becomes successful or she gets pummeled. Either way, I want to be a witness with front row seats

Vanderbilt kicker Sarah Fuller was named the SEC special teams co-player of the week on Monday.

Fuller made history as the first woman to suit up in an SEC football game and to appear in any Power 5 game.

The 21-year-old kicked off for Vanderbilt to open the second half against Missouri, her lone appearance in the Commodores' 41-0 defeat to the Missouri Tigers.

When asked whether Fuller will kick in the Commodores' next game against Georgia, Derek Mason, who was fired Sunday as Vanderbilt's head coach, said, "That’s really of her choosing. If she wants to kicks and she’s available we’d love to have her."

yeah fuk I didn't even think about that lol. what a failure. trying to make some waves and some positive news and they can't even execute on that, totally backfired and got himself fired.

no way he gets fired if they kick a few field goals, at least not after this game, probably at end of season though if they didn't beat Tenn

We all know he’s not getting fired for the female kicker. There would be riots at Vandy. No doubt the school encouraged that garbage

He’s fired cause his team is awful. This is coming off a 3-9 season last year as well

No one expects Vandy to win the SEC but they expect better than this even at Vandy.

They lost 41-0 to Missouri

I already walked back my original statement.

The punters for sure could have kicked a squib kick or practiced field goals for a week. I completely forgot they had punters and was defending it how someone explained it to me.

He did not get fired for putting a woman on the team.

Vandy has lost every game this season. That's why he got fired.

High IQ move by the coach because now he can sue and claim they fired him for letting her kick for equality when the real factor was that he was a bad coach. Same thing that happened with Kapernick IMO. Take a moral stand and blame your losing the job for something other than your lack of ability.
