Could you sail alone from LA to Hawaii?

This guy did. Pretty impressed. Don´t think I would have the balls to do that even if I was a veteran sailor. Took him 27 days on a small sailboat. Mirin, it´s a freaking long distance. Some people are just built different.

do i have the sailing skillset to do it - no


Id end up washed ashore in mexico after a few days. but if you knew how to sail and were prepared it would be easy

Yeah perhaps, but it´s still 27 days with only ocean around you. And look how small that sailboat is. Not a lot of room to move, but you can swim in the ocean lol.

Yeah, but they usually don´t sail for this long in one setting. The distance between LA and Hawaii is huge with nothing inbetween. And alone in such a small boat, is different than sailing with others in a big sailboat.

I have a 30' sailboat. Thought about doing some long distance chit but no way I have time for it.

I use my other boats way more cuz it just takes too long to get anywhere.

Sailing is fun tho.

Mirin, yea takes time. Looks kinda freaky to be on a small boat alone in the middle of the darkness, in the middle of the pasific ocean. Can´t see anything around you. Definitely takes some balls.

I dunno. Should look at the weather forcast before taking off, but looking weeks ahead might not be too accurate. Think it´s pretty safe if you know what you´re doing. Still a risk though

I don’t know how to sail or own a sailboat, so, no, I could not.

Now if I was taught how to sail, had enough practice and experience, had my own sailboat, and enough money that I could take that a year off of work, and pick up exactly where I left off. Then yes.

i used to work with a guy who did this often. he would sail from the bay area to hawaii and back at least once a year, and would sail to mexico several times a year. he eventually met himself a mexican chick and settled down and stopped sailing

Some friends of mine will cross the atlantic with a sailboat, will take approx 30 days or more. They will sleep on shifts so they're on guard 24/7 for whatever

Alone? Hell no.

I once took a jet ski out too far into the pacific.. Buzzed and chasing waves I could jump. I then noticed that I went so far out I completely lost sight of any land or buildings. Nothing but water in the horizon all around me... I'll never forget that initial panic feeling that shot down my spine. Literally felt my heart sink. Luckily I turned around and 3 minutes later I saw the roof of some buildings start to appear.

Dude has balls of steel doing that.
