Cliffs: singapore approves lab grown nuggets to start being sold. These wannabe Mcnuggets were grown in a BIOREACTOR (what a time to be not-alive).

What you guys think? It's not like the Sweet Baby Rays you're dunking them in isn't chock-full of lab made chit, but it seems... Icky?

Fukin science man. I wouldn't eat it, feels too weird.

But, I think it's an amazing innovation and I'm all for it, so long as they don't try to replace actual meat (not nuggets) with lab grown chit.

I think they are more expensive to manufacture than real meet AFAIK.

All new tech is more expensive. But then demand goes up, the manufacturing gets improved and benefit from large scale to the point it becomes the obvious choice.

The same process that happened with hard disk drives, started out at 24" and 3,75 mb, each iteration was more expensive but after some years was the obvious choice

This. In 100% once they get the process dialed in and can produce on a large scale at low cost. Bioreactor is a fun buzzword, but it's nothing more than a vessel controlling a biologically active environment. Used all the time in labs throughout the world generating different chemicals and medicines that are ingested daily. Nothing new.

This will only keep going. At some point it will be vastly cheaper to grow meat than raise and slaughter an animal. After like a generation or so of this humans will look back on slaughtering intelligent animals as akin to to the way we now view slavery.

Could have other implications like for space travel or colonization of another planet/moon. It’s probably more practical than bringing and caring for a herd of animals. I’m still waiting for the Fifth Element style capsule you put in a microwave that turns into a monster plate of food.

Be interesting to see how this affects nature. We already have organized deer kills as a means of population control. Maybe they'll try to reintroduce some animals back into the wild. Thoughts of a wild cow is pretty funny.
