My gramps used to catch mice with chicken, they have to pull it to get it out.

pb is easy for them to steal, especially if they’re super small.

He’d use a piece small enough to fit between the raised part on the bait area, just push it between there.

too many people leave it easy to set, then the mouse never sets it off

Mice weigh nothing and can often get the bait without tripping the trigger lever. Lube the lever where the holding bar sit with a drop of cooking oil. Often works better.

Get the better Victor traps. The ones with the little pool to put the bait in and that have a sensitive setting.

Much better and much more commonly used by exterminators.

Firm and sensitive settings and doesn’t rust in 2 months

Before you buy new ones you can try using different baits. Tons of people use chocolate syrup actually. Might be more effective as it’s a little stickier. Might require more effort and thus make him set the trigger off

I don’t live in squalor like you, OP. However, as a fellow OG I would like to help you.

Get a bucket. Run a cylinder across the diameter that can spin on its axis. Coat it in jam and peenis butter. Fill bucket with water. When you wake up your bucket will be full of mice that enjoyed a night of trying to stay afloat.

Cheers

^^ strong repost is strong. Good luck
