once you have a guitar, start with some justin guitar videos on youtube and look up riffs that are beginner friendly (smoke on the water, seven nation army, breaking the law, etc.) and have fun. You can go the instructor route if you like. It's a great hobby, I really enjoy playing.

Start by learning 1 instrument first.

I highly recommend guitartricks.com. Best beginner program ever.

Try Rocksmith for guitar srs

The same concept as Guitar Hero but you're using a real guitar.

There's a couple of excellent starter courses on Udemy for about $15. Also, apps like Yousician can ease you into actually playing the instrument.

Rocksmith is awesome if you have a gaming system but only works for guitar.

You can if you have the time and discipline.

What's cool is improving on one spills over to the other (for me anyways).

Ex playing lots of guitar gives me an innately better sense moving around on the piano.

It's like playing one instrument expands your aptitude for music, which can somewhat be applied to other instruments.

I don't agree. I taught myself guitar, no YouTube, no instructor, and I got pretty fukin good before I stopped playing. Teach yourself, watch videos, or get someone who can teach you, do whatever works for you.

I think trying to learn both at the same time is a bad idea though. It'll take you much longer to get better because you need to practice a lot, and not being able to focus on just one will mean you won't be getting better as fast and might discourage you.

Came to recommend this, though you'll need an electric or accoustic-electric to hook up to your console. This is one of the best ways to learn guitar IMO
