I met a 90 year old woman today

Responded to a welfare check requested by her nephew.

The nephew claimed she was in the early stages of Dementia and wanted a welfare check

When I responded she was actually a sharp well mannered woman who turns out lived quite an accomplished life.

She lives in a lavish house all by herself and her husband and everyone that she was family with has passed on.

The only family she has left was the nephew who according to her is simply waiting for her to kick the bucket so he can inherit her fortune srs

Chit was kinda sad.

She showed me photos of her life and all these old black and white photos from idk when 40’s/50’s/60’s

She was very beautiful back in the day as well

Now she’s too old to do anything about her greedy nephew who lives in another house she owns.

Damn dude... she was still so full of life for her age man. Sucks that she doesn’t seem to have anyone close left.

Yea she has all this wealth amassed and doesn’t seem like she’s gonna leave it to anyone. Her nephew is the next of kin, but we tried to give her info to fix her situation but she was too bothered about being old to want to do anything about it.

She doesn’t even drive anymore or use a computer

She even outlived her own children, made me wonder seriously about what’s going to happen when I get old.

I actually do want to live to be 100. As long as I have a good quality of life of course

My mom has dealt with dementia and alzheimers patients for decades, and its always a story along these lines... Always down to a final relative. If they're lucky, its a son or daughter, where there's a real connection, but many times its just a random relative who just happens to be there and wants to be there at the end. 99% of the time these people have amazing stories to tell if they have the wherewithal to tell them. Happy to see you sticking around. Probably made her day.

She didn’t actually have Dementia, I’m convinced the nephew is out to get her money. She kept calling me a sweet young man, and was appreciative of me being there.

Aw that’s terrible! Too bad she can’t outlive that turd of a nephew she has.

On a side note, it’s interesting how that generation lives to be so old. My grandmother is 102 and has her wits about her and lives on her own. My mom just lost her auntie a month ago who was 104. One hundred and four! An age generations now will never know.

Yeah I wonder about this for the wife. I'm 9 years older and she comes from a long lived family, 90s is average. Being old as **** seems awesome if you have real family around, but I'll be long gone by the time she crosses that bridge.

Outliving your kid sounds awful, only redeeming factor about having my first kid at 33 is i don't have to worry about that.

I’m a police officer. Were it not for this job I wouldn’t get such experiences it’s not always running and gunning. I also frequently meet people who are down in life.

In this particular situation I simply document that she’s fine and be on my way. No kind of action for me to take really.

Wow that's sad. If I were in her shoes and only had a greedy chit nephew left, I'd change my will to donate everything to charity once I'm gone. Her situation is the epitome of how money can't buy happiness, when you're old and all alone in this world, legit just counting down the days you do have left. Feels man.

There is this lady down the street who has been old for as long as I can remember. 30+ years.

She's gotta be at least 90 by now. Respect your elders crew checkin in.

Saw her the other day taking out the trashbins herself, and she goes for rides sometimes with her husband.

Mirin their ability to stay together for decades when I've made it work with a female for 7 months or so as my top score in a relationship.

Thoughts and Prayers go out to her, I wish her at least another 10 then she'll be a Centurion. I hope to make it at least that far or live forever.
I have sampled every language and French is my favorite to curse in.

People are really supporting some random guy who meets with the person for 15 minutes to start coercing a 90 year old women to change her will? lmfao miscers gonna misc. and the thing with early stage dementia is sometimes they can be sharp as a tack. They’ll also start assuming people are out to get them.

Keep trying to coerce her into giving her money away and see how fast that backfires op.

You can have dementia and still be sharp, particularly during the day. It's very possible that that sweet little 90 year old who is sharp as a tack starts smearing her chit around on the walls and talks to her dead imaginary friends once it's 9pm.
