Discuss things you think make a house look good or bad
Discuss what makes a house look good or bad to you.
Flooring - carpeting sucks. Carpeting can help keep a room warmer/absorb some sound, but it gets filthy super easily, plus stains. Give me flooring made of hardwoods/materials made to look like wood/tiling any day over carpets. Well placed rugs > carpets if you want the benefits of carpets without the negatives.
Interior colors - no strong colors. Red is an absolute no for anything like walls/furiniture/throw pillows/blankets/etc. Use light colors for any interior walls, but not white because white is too boring - white for floor trim/windows/crown molding/etc. with light colors for walls is the best look imo.
Be a minamalist, for the most part - Having a chitload of knick knacks, any clutter laying around, etc. all look like absolute dogchit. I've seen so many peoples' houses that would look 10x nicer if they just had less chit/decorations all over the place. The worst examples are things that simply take too much space for the area they are in.

The worst houses are the ones that don’t look homely.
White interiors with minimalist furniture suck.
I prefer decadent wood and well furnished homes with plenty of your own things which make your place unique.
Cheers

I agree, cant go wrong with the minimalist look. Greys/whites/blacks with that sleek, straight line simple modern look.

Personally I feel a house is incomplete if it is missing baseboards. When we were looking at homes it was surprising how many were missing them.
I also look at window treatments. Cheap or outdated blinds really detracts from the aesthetics of a home.

Minimalist "style" is trash lmao
House looking like a suburban model home no thanks
Dropping big money on a house just to have no personalization just because it's what's in "style". You mine as well go live in a condo or apartment
House full of grey's and whites lmao

I think there are a lot more people with borderline hoarding issues than people who go overboard with minimalism in terms of how they keep their homes. This is why young people will live miserable lonely lives.

love (thicker) carpet. brb better soundproofing, feels good on feet. dont wear your shoes inside and vacuum weekly then your carpet wont go to **** so fast. plants/family pictures and any personalized art or decorations that make the house look lived in is so much better then the basic look like in the pic above.
