Do you go to church?

Have been reading up on a few things lately and have come to find a lot of people that go to church don’t believe in god but they go because they believe the bibles teachings and the priests Sunday service teaches them how to be a better person. Just wondering if this is more widespread than I initially thought?

On occasion. My church meets on Thursdays (not Sundays) from 6-8PM; and I have to travel a little to get there. So sometimes I am a little tired from work, which is why I don't go consistently

Yes but i'm not religious. I only go there to pick up sloots.
Brb church girls have repressed sexual tension, usually are forced by their parents to go.
They have church activities where you hang out and play games or go out to camp and do activities together.
It's the perfect place to meet them since the ice is already broken. All are around 18 too.
Because once they go to college, they quit going to church.

I probably attend more regularly than most miscers and I'm not a Christian. There are several pastors whose teachings I enjoy and always learn from, I just have yet to be blessed with the gift of their faith. Maybe one dayThe social part....not so much.

Yessir, I actually have a decent role in my local, independent Baptist church (not Westboro huehue).

To the ones that do go, do you go because you believe in Jesus/god or do you go to perhaps learn some of the teachings and become a better person?

Haven't been since I was 18 and don't really have plans to again any time soon. Grew up reading the bible all the time on my grandfather's lap. He drove my brother and I to Sunday School every Sunday. I remember and believe all the teachings of Jesus. Highly reject nonsense like Noah's Ark, Adam and Eve and the idea of hell being a place of fire torture burning and damnation. I believe that if Jesus is the way to eternal life and you reject that with your lifestyle vs his teachings, then your punishment is that you just cease to ever exist again. Basically you're not resurrected at the end like Revelations describes. Best description I've heard is to imagine waking up from a a surgery. It seemed like just a second ago in your memory. In reality it was about an hour or 2. Being resurrected would feel like you were just alive on your death bed, and holy **** thousands of years have passed and here I am in the new heaven and new earth as promised. Otherwise you just don't ever exist again. Whoever wrote in the bible the idea of the devil, a torture hell was a jackass. God is supposed to be all powerful, all knowing, and all wise, yet somehow had no idea that Satan would betray him so he would have to cast him into some horrible realm where all the people that never chose to be a part of this cosmic game get sent to join him until the end of time? That makes zero sense.

Why would you want to pick up a woman at church? She's either a fraud, or she'll fully expect you to be at church with her every Sunday. Either sounds awful.

Yes, and I have attended Church with my family my entire life! My Dad was a Deacon, so our family was there every time the doors were open growing up. I now have my own family and we still attend the same church with my parents & my brother's family. My parents still serve as some manner, and my wife & I are on our internal security team.

And to answer the above, I do believe in God and Jesus as our savior.

I go, when we can, because I believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ and have accepted him as my lord and savior. My take away is alway the message of kindness and compassion to be a better person.

We currently aren’t attending because we haven’t found a good fit for us where we live now. My husband was part of an Apostolic church, service was in Spanish and three hours long, so that doesn’t really work for me lol. Our toddler can’t tolerate singing and loud music due to her Autism, so that’s a huge factor right now as well.

How do you read up on this, what does that even mean.

I’m sure if there are polls out there about churchgoers and their belief in God, it will be vastly lopsided towards belief in God (not that everyone believes what they claim to believe).

I’m not Jesus so I can’t answer that. But what I can tell you is everyone is given a challenge in life. For some it’s having a small penor. For others, it’s to accept those with a small penor.

Church was never my thing, but I respect people that go, and if that's what they believe in. My mom, and aunt would switch churches so much I couldn't keep up....One month we are going to a lutheran church another month we are now baptist. Confusion was at an all time high. I stopped going by my Senior year in high school....that was almost 14 years ago now. Last time I was in a Church was for a wedding as a groomsman a year ago.
