Reverse Commute, Only for idiots?

Why would anyone reverse commute. I can't figure it out for the life of me.

There are lots of jobs in the city (unfortunately). High paying and low paying alike.

The suburbs typically have low paying and minimum wage jobs only. Very difficult for multiple people to find high paying jobs anywhere not located near the city.

So why do city people purposely choose to have a 2 hour+ daily commute to work? I remember working at McDick's and an employee (not a manager) was driving from the city to a mcdick's located 1 hour away.

Being serious, Why?

Btw, reverse commuting means you commute from the city to the suburbs. Regular commuting is where you commute from suburbs to the city.

Edit: if you are poor why would you continue renting in the city, when you can rent in the suburbs, and be near work? Makes no sense.

Suburbs aren't always cheaper. Our studio in Detroit was like $400 in a nice building. Our one-bedroom in the nearby burbs was $1250.

my 1 bedroom in a decent suburb is ****ing $1400, and it's one of the cheaper nicer ones. meanwhile my first job after college was in the middle of nowhere, brb $600 for a two story townhouse.

I noticed reverse commutes in traffic are actually a lot worse (Chicago). It's surprising, you would think it's an easy free way but it's actually even more ridiculous.

Most people making a good income working in the city live in the burbs because it's safer, nicer and schools are better.

Most people working low paying jobs in the burbs are kids who live in the burbs, un-educated people who's family/support is there

Most poor people in the city are working low paying jobs in the city. Their living (whether rent, or owning) in poor neighborhoods is cheaper.

I don't think there is a huge number of people taking the bus from Detroit out to the burbs to work at McDonalds.
Everything depends upon execution; having just a vision is no solution.

Performance and performance alone dictates the predator in any food chain.

Agree with the 1st part. Would personally prefer a more rural area though.

Same with 2nd part

I would think that for the city dwellers.

I was looking stuff up about commuting and somehow stumbled upon reverse commuting. I can't find anyone else talking about this other than Reddit. (Fuk that)

Like for me, for example all high paying accounting jobs are in the city (I'm sure for many careers, it's the same idea).

There are lots of dumb people for sure though. I knew some dude who moved to chitty San Diego from Arizona just to work at McDicks. Moved back soon after.

Here in San Diego, traffic is terrible both ways. It really doesn't save anyone much time going one way or the other.

The San Diego economy sucks and the towns surrounding it are even worse off, it just makes zero sense why anyone would even bother reverse commuting.

I looked up jobs on Indeed and saw a place in Georgia where the local economy is about as strong as Atlanta, but that ain't the case here is SD lol.

Barely any jobs compared to the amount of people applying here. And all th crap jobs require being bilingual in Spanish for $15 an hour. It's terrible.

That's how it should be. Good job on landing that.

Right now my work is remote, and it better stay that way considering that there is no room in the office anymore since they hired more people. I would have to sit on the ground or outside in order to actually be at work.

Ist that price difference from being a studio vs a 1 bedroom?

Here in California studios legit are hard to find. Everything available ranges from $1600-1800 1 bedrooms in bad areas and 1900-3000 for 2 bedrooms

Imagine the ghettos in the city, 100% only speak spanish over here it's like 90% only know spanish, and I'm like an hour away.
