I'm tired of being a rentcel
Anyone else have this feeling? Seems like everywhere I go there is also a few chit neighbors who are obnoxiously loud, don't pick up their dogs poop etc. As I've gotten older it has seriously turned me into a bitter man.
I would try and buy a house but for a decent one it's like $400K and I'm not a $10k/day CEO like most miscers.

Family was a rent cell for as long as I can remember growing up. After I left the nest I've been a rent cell ever since. Partly by choice though, I don't want to sign up for a high mortgage rate with a PMI on top of it. Could get a condo for a cheaper down payment (relative to a house cost) to enable PMI avoidance, but usually it's still being within a few feet of walls of neighbors, as opposed to a yard + fence + yard at the very least to separate you.
Real answer might be to move in with the 'rents and live under their rules while avoiding paying rent, to help accelerate your savings for a house down payment. Otherwise accept being a rent cel for a solid few years extra than you would otherwise.
