When a jock actor plays a nerd, then takes his shirt off and has a 6 pack
Isn’t it weird when an actor who goes to the gym at least 5 or 6 days a week in real life plays a nerdy character, then there is a scene where he takes his shirt off and he has a six pack?
Why can’t they incorporate exercise into the character and show him working out, so it at least looks plausible for him to have a fit body?
Or am I overthinking it too much?

How often do you think about actors and their six packs?

1. Hollywood ugly is different than regular homely/ugly. Almost everyone competing for those roles is good looking. Then you have to figure that they are "playing a character" and there is some suspension of disbelief expected that you will just take them for the role they are playing.
2. Plenty of nerdy guys have 6 packs. AND some guys have 6 packs and don't work out. The crossover between attractive 6 pack hollywood actors who don't need to work out because of genetics is pretty large I would think. Also there are plenty of guys with big arms or whatever (which usually indicates working out more than a 6 pack would, I mean I think 14 year-old Justin Bieber had a 6pack) in movies and they don't randomly start lifting for no reason.

Yeah it’s stupid and ruins the emergence of the film. Perfect example was Zac Efron playing Ted Bundy. There are scenes in the movie where he is shirtless and in a plain white t-shirt, you can see he’s shredded, 6 pack abs, chiseled chest, well developed traps, lean 15.5 inch arms, etc when he is supposed to be playing Ted Bundy who was about 140lbs and thin. He did a decent job with the acting though.
