Star Trek fans question

I've watched most of these Star Trek Series but never watched DS9 and the animated series. Are they worth it?

DS9 is up there with TNG in terms of quality of writing and characters. Some fans even consider DS9 to be the pinnacle of Star Trek.

The Dominion War is some of the best science fiction writing for a series ever. Everything about it is amazing - the political intrigue, the battles that occur on-screen, the characters and races all competing for supremacy and the assorted mischief everyone gets themselves mixed up in competing for control of the station and the wormhole.

Watch DS9, you won't regret it. It has an overarching plot that covers the series as opposed to each episode being a random one-off adventure like the rest of the shows.

Btw give the show a chance past the first couple of episodes pushing the gay ass religious plot. Know that the deities being shown are actually aliens whom the locals perceive as divine beings. Religious zealotry is actually just alien cult activity, so don't let that throw you off in the beginning. It comes around when the writing matures a bit.

We have arrived in the distant galaxy known as Baroni01. First officer notbadnotbrad has completed his combat training on the holodeck and is preparing to lead an away team to the planets surface.

I have asked my head of security Lt. MadNinjaSkills to accompany him, incase of a hostile reaction from the locals.

Not much is known about the RICHSTONG alien race, but they are known to be large and extremely dangerous, especially when defending their mate.

i dont understand chit being said in this thread. I did watch a few episodes of this, not the worst show in the world.

Of course ST Next Generation is my absolute favorite, but I love DS9 and have since rewatched it multiple times.

I've seen a few of the newer star trek movies and am interested in watching the entire series. Did OP post them in chronological order? So enterprise and discovery are the first 2 to watch?

The newer Star Trek movies are abominations that attempted to reboot the entire continuum to appeal to newer, younger audiences. The older fans don't even consider them canon.

If you want to actually enjoy Star Trek, watch TNG, it still holds up well to this day.

After that, you can watch DS9, then Voyager, then Enterprise.

Then you can watch the Original Series (TOS), if you feel like absorbing the source of all the shows but it is NOT essential. The writing is okay but the presentation and some aspects of the show are just so dated and didn't age well at ALL.

Discovery and Picard are trash, and every movie AFTER Nemesis is horrible.

So in order, watch:

TNG
DS9
Voyager
Enterprise
Maybe TOS if you're loving the above. Personally I've always liked it but again, it hasn't aged well, unlike all the other stuff which still holds up.

Then look into the movies, but avoid all after Nemesis. Nemesis was the last good film.

This is all my opinion of course.

Yes, those are in order in regards to when they take place in the Star Trek universe time line. It’s cool to kind of see it from “the beginning” but each show is a stand alone IMO.

I should add for me personally, I find TOS, TNG, and DS9 to be compared to watching the original three Star Wars. Then throwing in Enterprise, Discovery, like watching all the new prequel movies for Star Wars. It’s like they try to throw too much wow into it and to me it just lacks compared to the originals. But that’s just my personal feelings about it.

If i read this right you said you never watched DS9 but in the list that I am assuming is what you have seen you put Deep Space Nine..DS9 is Deep Space Nice

The TNG movies were good, not great but they were nice fan service. I agree TNG holds up very well to this day, it starts off pretty rocky at the beginning but once The Borg are introduced and they reach The Best Of Both Worlds is when the show took off with great stories. I enjoyed Picard, I mean I did see some of the problems people had but for me seeing Patrick Stewart playing Picard again made me geek out so hard and seeing the interactions with Data and Picard, especially in the season finale was just great.

Ds9 is some of the best Trek.

The tng movies have their issues but are masterpieces compared to Jar Jar Abrams krap and everything after that

As i mentioned above. Ds9 is some of the best trek.
A strong point of the series is the recurring characters (among other things)
