I am so angry that govt gets to take so much of my bonus in taxes

almost 45% taken out from my bonus by federal and then new york governments.

why work hard?
i should just loot stores like BLM thugs ..atleast thats tax free.

I dunno if I am in a different tax bracket or what but I have around 37-38% of my salary and commission taken our every paycheck now.

One thing to keep in mind is that you generally will get back some of that tax at return time. When you get a bonus you are getting moved up into an entire new bracket.

Lets say you make 78k/yr (3k gross every 2 weeks) and your bonus is 10k.

For that two week period, you're going to get taxed as if you were an earner making 338k/yr (13k gross in 2 weeks)

Long story short you would take more money home if your bonus was absorbed into your salary, but this is all sorted out at tax time.

it still ruins the excitement of getting bonus when u see useless fuks in govt get most of it. in this year, least govt could have done was saved us money on taxes.

heard you can get good deductions if you donate some of it or save on tax if you put it in retirement accounts.

I hate federal taxes so much that I'd probably rage every day if my own state, or even city, placed additional income taxes on top of that.

Get out of New York mane, go somewhere lower cost and no income taxes.

I don't know why they do that, but that's basically an estimated payment that is way above the rate that you will eventually actually pay on that sum of money. It gets taxed as income, and you pay it at the same rate you do on your other income, but when you get the check they take estimated taxes at the 36% or 39 rate iirc

Bonuses are taxed differently upfront than salary/commissions. Bonuses are taxed federally at a flat 22%, then you factor whatever State and Local taxes on top.

When you file your taxes later, your gross bonus is added along with your total income. Your marginal tax rate could be up at 37% after all said and done.
