Anyone get to 10% (not dyel mode) while drinking?

Or do you find you have to cut out the sauce completely? In for stories.

Edit: As a Natty.

Yep, sub-10% while having a night per week with 3-6 beers. Also, having a burger and fries 1-2 times per week.

The fact is that if you’re on track for the majority of the time, the times you’re not impact progress very little.

What’s the point in getting that low of bodyfat if you’re face hardly changes from 15% bf. Sure you’ll have more cuts and better abs but most of the time you’re wearing clothes. I’d say 15-16% is the perfect balance of facial aesthetics/bulk/quality of life

My last cut I got somewhere around 12% while drinking regularly. I haven't had alcohol in a few years now but didn't really seem to affect my progress when I did.

Interesting. Just worried a bit about hormonal changes. Never really affected muscle gains though.

Why even cut that low? I don’t understand how it’s any better than 16% bf

Yes. Got to sub 10% while drinking about a fifth on average per night.

Was taking a lot of OJ, was drinking a lot of water, also wasn’t eating more than 400 calories of actual food.

Only way I made it through rugby games was a 4 hour energy, concerta, 2 pre-game shots, and a couple shots mixed in with my Gatorade to keep me slightly buzzed through the game.

Towards the end started getting severe lip cracking/bleeding, ligaments/tendons dangerously dry, recovery times got longer and longer.

Keep in mind I was a complete alcoholic, but you can absolutely get to under 10% bf while drinking heavily, but you’re going to be burning the candle very brightly at both ends and eventually it’s going to catch up with you.

Sober at 32 I’m stronger than I was at 24 while drinking.

If you have a beer here and there, unless you’re training for mr Olympia, it won’t make any difference whatsoever.

Drinking will especially impact you however if you are a problem drinker and it impacts your motivation to get to the gym, or being hungover, etc. impacts your ability to go 100% in training. At that point it’s fukking up a ton of things from nutrition to organ function, cognitive clarity, metabolism, etc.

Absolutely. I ran track, a sprinter in college. I drank a few nights a week. I was nearly as shredded as bodybuilders on stage. Striations in my chest muscles, veins everywhere, but of course I was only 165-170 pounds. A hell of a lot easier at that size than someone at 200+. I'd do practice, and because I was vain I'd spend at least as much time lifting at the gym on my own.
Yeah Buddyyy! Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

The issue here though is how long can you sustain the caloric deficit.

I personally cant diet for more than three months, especially since my job is mentally taxing and I don’t enjoy low intensity workouts, so I tend to go hard at the gym or don’t go at all. So for me, if I want to lose my goal weight in a sustainable and achievable way, I can’t be cheating by binge drinking because that’ll really slow me down.
Yup, the issue I think would be the lean mass you could lose as a result of the deficit while drinking due to hormonal changes (specifically test and cortisol).

Yep, I drink around 10 vodka sodas, sometimes more, sometimes less, on a night out and that’s only 600 calories or so out of my daily 2300 calorie allowance. Drinking once or twice a week barely makes a dent if you do everything else right.

Yeah if you control for the calories. Stick with spirits and zero calorie mixers and avoid beer like the plague

However it’s far from optimal. Drinking will effect your sleep, training, hormones, and possibly diet choices... and this will effect your body composition

I can maintain without gaining a lb for months while drinking heavily if I have a really low fat diet. If the diet has higher fat content, I'll blimp up

For actual cutting though, drinking would probably fukk it up or at least displace nutrition derived from food

Never been tested, but id say thats ~14-16%.

Its not so much the alcohol itself, its the poor dietary decisions that come with it. Along with the lack of motivation the next day.

Was a heavy drinker from 20 to about 30, maintained that 14-16% the entire time, but always wondered what i could have accomplished if I didn't drink. Now in my mid 30s, drinking is no longer feasible, but neither is cutting to 10%.

Very possible as long as you are staying on top of your food and working out. I would suggest staying away from heavy beer drinking though.

Yes.

You want to go for hard liquor or dry red wine. I drank wine almost every night on my last cut. Wasn't 10%, but it was leaner than I'd ever been.
