A reason the Misc. needs to survive...

We are all critical of the Misc. Obviously it isn't perfect. But neither are our friends. A friend isn't perfect and we accept it. Long story short, the Misc. really does serve a purpose and I am going to tell you mine. I am getting old. I am bald. I am a drunk and now, these days I am out of shape. I am the guy the Misc. describes with disgust a hundred times a day and writes off. That aging, fatting, bald dude who is married and "settles." That is why I Misc.

I am going to turn this around. I promise. I am drinking right now. I admit it. But I am turning this around guys. I could not do so without you, the Misc. I need that comradery. I need that mentality. I need that online hand shake, jokes and cringe.

It's time to get sober Misc. I am scared. Not sure if I can do it. I have done far more before. Going to start a countdown on my sig starting tomorrow.

Was a reference to quitting smoking. I kicked that habit. It was tough but honestly, quitting drinking has actually proven to be harder. I was giving myself encouragement.

Hey bro I’m glad your turning things around, I was in a similar position 6 months ago (would play video games/watch anime/was a neet living in my parents basement/abusing substances). It started when I was mugged, srs. I have never been the same. The Misc. has been my only avenue.

I don't know what it is like to be raped but feeling completely helpless while a couple bro's beat you lifeless has to be at least in the ballpark.

I love my family and they love me. I deal with it and have dealt with it the best I can. I have issues absolutely no question. Will I forget this thread tomorrow? I don't think so. Not because this thread but because I am tired of my wife, silently, patiently and lovingly waiting for me to figure it out. Asking me to get help. I need to do it for her. I need to do it for me. I can barely remember anything anymore after drinking. My mind is going to mush.

Real feels. Don't care if it looks stupid. This is the closest to real therapy I can manage right now.

I would have died, no question. It was in a safe area, and I was with a friend. We went out for drinks before I got him started with his new job at my company. We were walking home and a couple guys doubled back on us and it was caught on ATM camera. The police knew who they were but couldn't prove it to charge. It was a gang initiation but a couple of known felons.

Drinking does not spell alcoholism in a lot of places. Usually they drink wine socially where people drink without abuse.

Not at all. My wife has been my only ally through the years. Far from being happy she has been through hell and back for me and I would die for her. We are best friends.

Edit: the Misc. loves to blame women. I have always been pro marriage basing it on my own and saying so. I am as lucky as they come. I married my best friend and will not survive her long.
