Any successful soda / diet soda quitters?
One of my goals I keep shamefully revisiting every time I consider self improvement, or for a fun idea of a "new year's resolution" is to quit the diet soda drinking habit. Been drinking diet soda all my life since I was a kid. Multiple liters every day. Most days I won't even drink water, just diet soda until it's time to brush teeth and sleep. Usually some coffee too though in the morning, and to keep me up later in the work day or something.
For those who quit soda / diet soda, have you noticed any changes? Perhaps a better diet as a result, less bloat, whiter teeth, lower blood pressure + heart rate?

I have. When I realised that Diet coke/Coke had caffeine in it and that contributes to anxiety/ADHD. I forced myself to give it up and after a week I felt much better.
That was motivation. After 3 weeks, No more cravings.
I have 2 cans of caffeine free diet coke on a saturday with a cheat meal, and I have stayed this disciplined for a while now.

I was a Diet Coke addict for many years until I quit cold turkey about 7 years ago. The first few days were rough but after that I was fine. Now I just drink black coffee in the morning, some plain cold bottled water during the day, and a couple of cans of flavored seltzers at night.

Quit soda in my teens when I started lifting for the very first time. Probably around 14/15. I’ll occasionally (meaning once or twice a year) have a Sprite, but other than that I’ve been soda free ever since. Once you stop, you don’t even miss it. There are so many better drinks out there.
As for health benefits, I didn’t check things such as bloat or blood pressure when I drank soda, but I have never had a cavity in my life.

When I was younger from child to teenager I consumed a lot of soda. Felt like a proper meal needed a soda to go along with it. I'd say around the 21-23 age time frame I stopped drinking soda almost completely. Only exceptions was when I used it as a chaser on nights out or on special occasions.. Now 26 Ive stopped drinking alcohol as well so my soda consumption can probably be counted with my fingers for the whole year.
I think you may have to go through a prolonged period of not touching it at all before you can get to the point of just drinking it on occasion every so often and maintaining your control. The benefits of not consuming that stuff daily are numerous, do you really need us to list them?
Even if you ignored the numerous health gains you'd be making from cutting it off, there's one thing alone that makes it worth it; having the self discipline and control over your own self to stop a bad habit that you've been partaking in for years. Knowing that you have control over yourself, and can tame your impulses can lead to other breakthroughs and gains in life.

2 years since my last Diet Coke. Haven’t noticed any positive changes since quitting to be honest.

One tangible benefit is $$$. Water is free at restaurants, and your grocery bill omits it entirely. At the rate I drink diet soda, I'd probably save between $3-5 a day on average by stopping. Not a life changing financial difference but still something.

Just drink more water???? And have a diet soda rarely as a treat? No need to quit, just stop drinking it instead of water. Drink it in addition.
I still drink (decaf, because i can't stand too much caffeine) diet soda to curb hunger or because it tastes good, but my foundational/all day beverage is water. What sort of godawful habits were you raised with that you don't default to drinking water when thirsty? That's honestly so sad.

try keto diet
push hard through adaptation process
then a diet soda with its artificial sweeteners can make you feel sick
I was mind blown how it didnt taste so sweet before (cuz adapted af to it) but after keto for 3 months I couldn't take a third sip from a can of Sprite Zero without feeling sick
also tea is much better for dental health
so do 2 cups of good coffee for boost
and then tea

Quit 5 years ago. I only have a couple per year now, when I visit a restaurant that makes its own in house cream soda that is out of this world. I definitely felt better, lost some belly, blood pressure went down.
I'm lucky in the fact that I don't have an addictive personality. I quit biting my nails cold turkey, i quit soda cold turkey, I tried gambling and gate it, etc.
