[b] 1) Embed disappearing [/b]

This seems to be a new phenomenon on the misc and a lot of people seem to complain.

I have noted that that this happens depending on whether the link has the image resource

Imgur is a popular image hosting program and it is usually the choice around here. Here is an example:

[URL=https://imgur.com/a/WjAVCs6]https://imgur.com/a/WjAVCs6[/URL]

Embedding the upload link might disappear as the [img] link [/img] tag does not infer the page as this link represents mostly Imgur's path to an upload resource.

If you right click on PC/Laptop or hold on-screen on mobile on the picture itself, there should be an option to "Open image in new tab".

That will produce this image-resource direct URL:

[URL=https://i.imgur.com/7FXjdDU.jpg]https://i.imgur.com/7FXjdDU.jpg[/URL]

This will not disappear on embed.



[b] 2) Quoting embedded post elements [/b]

Unfortunately, a bad habit of some miscers!

When you quote a post, the quote will reveal the embed tags of the element, e.g:

[img][/img]

It takes only 1 second to remove the forward slash:

[img][img]

This will remove video thumbnails and picture embedding.



[b] 3) Anti-detective measure against picture metadata [/b]

Every picture file on the web has metadata on it that can be see with online viewers. They expose stuff like:

-- Model, lens etc if taken from a camera

-- Mobile model, location of photo if from a smartphone

A good way to obscure this is to use Snipping Tool on Windows or Screenshot on mobile. Then upload to Imgur.

The worst thing you can do it is an "Open image in new tab" click directly from ******** or other social media. Might contain metadata with a profile ID!



[b] 4) Anti-detective measure against picture reverse Google search [/b]

As above, use a screenshot tool to remove metadata and Imgur.

Crop the photo as much as possible to remove any irrelevant to post details.

Then use Paint on Windows or Gallery Photo Editor on smartphone to

Youtube video - [youtube] link-after-equals-sign** [youtube] Forward slash removed to avoid empty black thumbnail.

Spoiler - [spoiler] text [spoiler] Forward slash removed to avoid empty spoiler.

*Can use for gif and other non-jpeg picture formats

** For example, the embed part of this youtube link -[URL=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ[/URL]- is dQw4w9WgXcQ.
