Everything is being curated and free speech is dying.
Forums are all but dead
Search engines are curating results
Youtube is basically cable tv now after culling all the smaller channels
********, Instagram and Twitter push verified people to the top
Social media platforms now ban people for actions and words on other platforms (cross platform bans)

2000s internet was GOAT was the Wild West back then

One thing that I've noticed and experienced is how it seems way easier to get banned on dating apps all of a sudden. I could be wrong but I was using them for two+ years and my friend for even longer then we both just got banned from tinder within the last couple of months. It supports the idea that everything is getting more censored and pussified.

And getting banned from tinder now would be almost like the equivalent to getting banned from the most popular bar in every city decades ago.

I remember being so excited to discover different random corners of the internet. Everything was new and different. There were no cohesive designs for websites, many of them extremely non-user friendly, but they had character.

Now, everything has been created for maximum efficiency to the point that everything looks the same. Search results are sold to the highest bidder. Everything is sterilized

True, social credit scores are pretty much here already with the amount of followers and likes on social media becoming such a focus. It's only a matter of time before it's as bad as in 1984. It's weird how they changed the term from 'friends' on ******** to 'followers' on all of the platforms that came after it.
