Ever read Google Maps reviews of car dealers?
I eventually want to retire my truck and get a new daily driver, so I was reading reviews left on Google Maps of local dealers.
They have all these glowing 5-star reviews, that happen to mention the name of the salesmen, that are obviously fake because they are all vague and generic. Then you have the 1-star reviews by people who are mad their credit sucks, or don't understand negative equity, then you finally have the legit reviews that are usually 2-4 stars that contain the details of how the dealers will try to add on a lot of last minute fee's, after you have committed to buy. They add up to between $800 and $2000 the customer didn't expect to have to pay, and the dealer will act like you are obligated to still buy and pay all that extra, or you have betrayed them somehow.
Those 2-4 star reviews are the ones I pay attention to, and decide not to do business with that dealership because the owner of the dealership usually responds with some smarmy specious argument and gaslighting, as if the customer is being completely unreasonable with their legit complaints. Some dealers act like you want something you are unworthy of, therefore you have to pay extra for it, and act like you are subordinate to them.
I guess they do so much business that they only want the sheeple coming in to buy. I may go the broker route when I do buy something else.
