Alexi Laiho (Children Of Bodom) dead at 41

FML, if 2020 sucked so hard, for rock and metal deaths too, 2021 begins sucking as hard. Alexi Laiho, leader of Children Of Bodom, now Bodom After Midnight and guitar extraordinaire, has died at 41, no cause of death has been revealed yet, but the last pictures of him he looked pretty thin and not healthy at all. He´s been a pretty big influence on me for taking guitar more seriously, and this have hit me hard. Hold me misc

Damn Bodom is what got me into metal in the first place.

It's more than likely going to be drugs that got him, he was always way too thin and sickly looking.

Doesn't mean they weren't caused by something otherwise the health issues would be stated in the report. He probably partied hard, got clean then it all caught up unfortunately.

This is sketchy as fukk, he said a few years ago that he wasn´t drinking anymore while on tour, but he started looking worse, and a couple years ago he sold the rights of the COB name to his ex-bandmates, it´s almost like he had cancer or something, and knew he was going to die.

Guy had a self-destructive personality from the start, but i thought he was doing well this days.

Was it a suicide? I'm guessing it was.

COB was one of my favorite bands. He had severe depression and alcohol issues. I think he fell apart at the end there.

Just came onto misc to see if this was posted. I heard earlier this morning. What a fuking shame. I listed to a ton of Bodom back in the day, particularly when I was learning guitar. Alexi was around 20 back then and my buds and I all idolized him. I remember seeing him play live in 2003/2004 or so and he pounded back nearly a dozen heinekens in the span of an hour on stage and still shredded impeccably.

Dude was an insanely talented guitarist.
