I have come to discover that this is the promise land. For me at least. First it was Croatia, then it was the Azores, and now......North Spain, probably Galicia, but the entire north seems nice. Any miscers from that area? East Spain is too toursity for my taste.

- Quiet and lowkey. Not any real big cities close by
- Good food, and I like spanish people

Maybe northern california would be a decent comapison for you american brahs, climate wise. This will be a goal to set my eyes on.

Spanish, galician or basque. But everyone understands spanish. They speak catalan in the north east, but I don´t want to move to catalonia. I´m thinkink North west Spain, not north east.

My family is from Galicia. But they emigrated to America in the early 20th century because there wasn't any available work in Spain. How are you planning to support yourself?

However, the south west part of Galicia is significantly more sunny than the northern parts. There are pockets of microcliamtes in south galicia that are pretty sunny. Somewhere around 2500 hours of sunlight annualy, compared to 2000 in la coruna. Huge step up from where I´m currently located in terms of climate. I wanna live somewhere green. I have lived in a desert before, couldn´t do that long term.

Sheeeit good luck. Last time i visited the country was 2010 and the unemployment rate was like 40% or something crazy like that. It is a beautiful land though and the people have a very subdued, proud courtesy in how they interact with others. I can see the appeal in living there.

My grandfather migrated over with our family mainly rooted in Basque country. Growing up I kind of always wished we were more from the Mediterranean side.

Two years ago I finally spent almost a month in Spain, and BY FAR our favorite place was San Sebastián. Amazing food, tapas, wine and ciderias, beautiful water and coastline, great golf, mountains, etc.

For Western, really didn’t care much for Barcelona or Ibiza. Maybe too early season for the crazy Ibiza partying, and the city seemed very dumpy, but we drove the coast all over and it was undoubtedly beautiful. Valencia was pretty cool if anything just for the Holy Grail.

Madrid was great, especially the day trip to Toledo. Grenada was nice as well.

Definitely want to go back to San Sebastián more, tour the rest of the north shore, work out way thru Portugal, and then cross over into Morocco / Casablanca.

TLDR... Check out San Sebastián. Highest density of Michelin Star rated restaurants in world, along with amazing ciderias and tapas. Beautiful water, coastline, mountains, etc.

Love Spain , people are friendly, good climate, would def enjoy living there. Have some friends that live in Barcelona as ex pats and they love it.
