Not true. In my state Washington, there is massive unemployment, business's shutdown because of the lockdown. Nobody can get unemployment benefits now because of fraud and goverment incompetence. And a massive homeless population.

-select shootings get massive press
-bill targeting prohibition of certain firearms/components gets proposed
-bill has poorly written definitions of the banned items
-2a rights lobbies fight back against bill and eventually get their pocket legislators to settle for compromise
-modified bill passes into law while retaining ~60% of the original ban material

Nz just recently banned hi cap mags. I think anything over 7 is banned now (unless you have an exemption). The government relied on the honor system and a buy back scheme for owners to hand them in... there are plenty still out there.

I tend to think the broad strokes are correct: Steven Paddock purchased a large amount of firearms and ammunition with the intention of blowing away as many people as humanly possible from a hotel window overlooking a mass outdoor concert.
