Actually maybe to eliminate tension hey just want to ban anyone not agreeing with their groupthink. It's a great time to do it with everyone drooling over a screen. Then when a small group does something for a few days it's viciously attacked and punished - while allowing worse actions to continue for longer is it's against their opposition.
