BJJ brahs: what’s wrong with my finger?

A few weeks ago during take down I hit my finger. I’ve done this before to another finger and had to keep it wrapped for a few months.

The other day when changing my wrap I noticed it’s red and swollen. When pushing on it it seems the joint has actually gotten bigger. Is this the standard “BJJ fingers”? I can bend it, it just hurts if I grip and move side to side.

You may have an avulsion fracture. If you can bend doubt you have grade III sprain. Should be wrapped a total of 4-6 weeks. Rehab it with ROM and strength as tolerated. I’d recommend an XR to make sure no avulsion.
You have my word as a Schons.

Yeah I figured this was the start of that. The one side of the joint is significantly bigger than on my right index, so idk. Guess I’ll keep it wrapped.
