Two of the few things left i enjoy in life, driving / working on manual petrol engine cars and sitting next to a wood fire sipping some beer and they are trying to slowly take them away. My country, Wales, is worse than England but the whole U.K is going the same way.

It seems ridiculous to me, industry and ****ty diesel engines pumping out death 24/7 yet apparently stopping people idling in traffic and burning coal or "wet" wood is going to make some sort of significant difference.. Surely the overall contribution must be tiny?


I envy you U.S bro's with your cheap fuel and big engine cars. Do you guys even have 1.0l ****boxes over there?

i have a wood stove, but it has secondary combustion and i always burn full draft, so once it gets going, there's no visible smoke leaving the flue

similarly, cars that shut off at lights cause the catalytic converter to cool down and become less effective, thus increasing pollution
