Mine is Jerry Vale. He's one of my favorite singers, and I love how all these stone cold killers are subdued and calmed by his voice.

watching this scene always makes me really think about how chitty our society has become. these days, everyone would be buried in their fuking phones.

I held this belief fifteen years ago, and I still maintain it today -- Goodfellas is the only truly perfect film ever made. It's not my favorite (though it is one of my favorites), and there are some other near-perfect films, but Goodfellas is 100% flawless.

It dragged on a little too long at the end with the helicopter chasing Henry and Karen and the annoying bitch babysitter. Everything before that and the ending dialogue is perfection though.

You need to read the book. If you're interested in this genre there's several more stories of this caliber that never made it to film, it's like finding lost treasures.

The famous shine box scene

Frank Vincent finessed this scene in a way I don't think anyone else could've. The funny thing about this is after a bunch of times I finally realized that he actually did seem happy to see Tommy and really was just breaking his balls a bit. Scorsese does a brilliant job of showing how a simple well intentioned greeting can escalate into an explosion of violence in no time at all with such volatile personalities.

A higher pitched and quick Mingya is a pleasant surprise.

If you do it with a lower pitch and drag it out, ming......................ya, it's equivalent to "this is fukked up"
