It's a fact that people in pre-industrial societies had more free time than we do today, and were happier than we are today.

It really makes me wonder why we bother ravaging the planet with our Toyota Tacomas, 2400 sq foot houses, and outlet shopping centers when science shows none of those actually improve our quality of life.

Instead save and invest. Before you know it you'll be free, as you'll have enough money to afford your lifestyle forever without a job. You'll probably still work, but only doing things you like.

People you'll never see again may judge your lifestyle, but who cares what a debt slave thinks? They can't even make their own decisions.

Also, I'd rather not die at 29 of an infected tooth.

I do live well below my means and I'm already FI. However it can be difficult to find like minded people, especially like minded women to date.

If I had to live the way the average male decides to live his life nowadays, then yeah, I'd rather live like a Viking and potentially die at 25.

Glad we live in an era where those aren't the only choices though.

I have said this so many times but

Man will be happiest when he lives a simple lifestyle as follows:

-Go hunt/fish with the boys
-attack neighboring village, impregnate their best looking women
-return to own village with riches and celebrate with food and drink
-repeat

Victory or death those are the only two options, the weak won't survive long enough to complain they will be given mercy (death) instead of suffering

Not really because there were no Vikings in 1400 BCE and if you meant CE, then the Viking Age was long gone as they had all been amalgamated in Christian Europe.
