Got my first big fish (spearfishing) (covid hobby) (vid)

Got into spearfishing as a covid hobby, having a lot of fun and finally got my first big fish





113cm Samson Fish, cut into around 20 steaks worth of fish. Its not suppose to be prized winning tasting but it was delicious to me

The Great Whites are a srs concern. This is not too far away from what they call the 'Great White Super Highway'


Never seen a shark from 15+ shore dives, but from 5 boat dives i've had 2 shark encounters

Encounter 1) Didnt see it. Helicoptor started doing circles around me and i thought thats slightly concerning. Helicopter then hovered right above me and i thought thats quite concerning. Then it turned on its siren and told me to get back on the boat which was very concerning. Later looked it up on sharkwatch. com and it was a 3.0m Tiger Shark


Encounter 2) Had just speared a king george and it was wriggling at the end of my spear, friends yelling 'shark' from the boat but i think they are taking the piss. I casually swim back to the boat then look down and see a Bronze Whaler cruising slowly. Probably 2.5m misc standards but at the time it feels like 3.5. It wasnt aggressive but scared the piss out of me. Dropped my fish and dropped the gun and swam slowly backwards towards the boat keeping my eyes glued on it


So far stingrays have been the most aggressive and annoying. They swim right up to you to take your fish and are massive. And black
