Things you have learned from having your own home gym

Mine:

- I discovered how to train my forearms more effectively
- I realized contractions of the muscle is very important
- I also discovered how to train my rear delts effectively
- I learned how to do T-bar row off the floor without anyone coaching me while feeling my rhomboids activating
- I learned to be more patient. Bodybuilding is not a race, it's a lifelong journey to your own physical perfection.

don't have a home gym but I do have some adjustable dumbbells and bands.

I think it has taught me to be more adaptable and flexible with what you have most important of all. Also I discovered that I really like bands for targeting lats specifically, it's better for me than any lat pulldown machine srs.

A few things on my end:

I can train focusing on heavy compounds 3x a week and it's as effective (if not more so) than when I was training 6x a week at a commercial gym incorporating all kinds of isolations, with my trainings now being twice as short (dead srs)

Deadlifting wearing nothing but boxers with your ballbag hanging out as you yell like a barbarian is one of the greatest feelings you'll ever experience

If you're creative enough, all you need is a power rack. You don't even need any dumbbells

Most modern training plans handed out by inexperienced 'trainers' at a commercial gym are a complete scam
*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*
*Use half the roll to wipe after a poo crew*
*Fart in the gym and blame rotten smell on faulty ventilation crew*
*Fart at home and blame it on the dog crew*
*Watch neutron-star density poop mock me as water flushes around it and it stays put crew*
*Drive 2 minutes in the summer and back of shirt gets completely wet crew*
*Coffee black as midnight on a moonless night crew*
*Fat shame my cat on a daily basis crew*

You don't need to bench (just have squat stands that can adjust telescope to do dips on, pull ups with barbell).

Trying to hit hammies from a knee flexion (if I have that right) action is tough to do without a leg curl machine is kinda tough.

Got a new pull-up bar with ankle weights and a weighted vest. Hangs are helping my back/shoulders since I sit in a chair all day at work and leg lifts are much more enjoyable for working abs than sit-ups SRS

1. i have no motivation to work out alone
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.

Less is More.

Home gym is open 24/7/365 only for you.

Nothing gives you an excuse for you to skip training each day.

It's far easier to over-train or under-rest when you have a home gym than you have to go to public gyms.

Most important thing is I get sick a lot less not going to the gym. Even pre-covid me and most my buddies that had gotten home gyms came to the conclusion that the times they got sick, they most likely got it from the gym.

You are sweating, coughing, exhaling, wiping sweat, mixing all kinds of other funk that causes bacteria to grow and other sickly things to thrive.

My OCD got the better of me and I finally couldn't take it. The YMCA I was going to are ALWAYS PACKED! picture a packed weight room full of sweaty, stinky ass dudes. no thanks!! the smells were bad!

Since working out at home I have not gotten sick once this winter. this to me makes the additional cost well worth it.

Also training frequency is improved. I do miss seeing the HBB at the gym but I never tried to pull from there anyways.
