I was supposed to get a $400,000+ bonus and my boss reneged - what to do?

Basically title

Graduated college in May 2019 with a degree in civil engineering. I had some trouble finding a job right out of school that met my salary requirements so I moved back in with my parents to conserve money. In Jan 2020 found a government contractor paying in the $50k range - not amazing but I was getting pretty hungry at that point so I applied and went to the interview.

Got an offer letter for $49k/yr and I tried to negotiate with them showing how the average grad with my skills makes more like $56k but they wouldn't budge. However they really played up the benefits saying they have good medical, dental, a small pension and a bonus over $400,000. They also wanted me to live overseas and I'm working with mostly foreign nationals though my boss is American.

Obviously the bonus caught my eye so I went ahead and accepted the offer making sure it was in writing on my employment contract. But now the end of the year has come and gone and nobody at the company has said anything about my bonus. I check my bank account daily for the money to deposit. It's in writing on my contract as a "401k plan". What do you think I should do?

Probably way too technical for this thread but the IRC-415(g) limit for 401k plans is $57k. This is the maximum total contribution from both employee and sponsor. So if you thought they were putting 400k in your 401k lol you're not even close.

A quick Google search would tell you that 401k is about matching meaning that they will give you as much of a bonus as you put in up to $401,000. So if you put in $401,000 of your money they will put in same amount of theirs.
