just watched this video:
and it absolutely blew my mind. have people always reacted this way around high status people? would romans have behaved this way if they saw the emperor? for some reason I feel like that wasn't the case and this is just another example of society having gone off the deep end. discuss.

Yeah, far back as ancient Rome you had senators falling over themselves, trying to join the arenas in a frenzied rush to become a gladiator. They were willing to sacrifice their ancestral class title to become some pleb in the arena, all because of celebrity gladiators and all the ancient poonani they used to get.
