So I’ve been on a run of days off, bored af due to lockdown. Watched Nightstalker on Netflix a few days ago and started looking up the more concise details of the case realising how fascinated I was with such crimes.

I then saw a thread on here titled something like ‘best looking serial killers’, which included Ramirez (Nightstalker). One other post however, stated the ‘Ken and Barbie’ killers. I was unaware of them but decided to look them up and their crimes out of interest. This is the couple in question:



Holy fuk, what a pair of utter kunts. Without going into too much detail, Paul raped approx 20 girls on his own before and after meeting Karla, while together they abducted, brutally sexually assaulted, tortured and murdered 3 school girls. One of which was Karla’s own sister who she offered to Paul as a Christmas present (Paul was infactuated with virgins, which Tammy, who was 15, was). Karla actually drugged her with a drug obtained from her work, took turns sexually assaulted her and left her to die once Tammy had vomited and stopped breathing. Before Tammy’s burial, Paul and Karla placed this picture in the coffin:



Paul, later physically assaulted Karla, which caused her to leave him and press charges. When it became apparent they were culpable of the killings, Karla painted herself as a victim under his control and testified against Paul, in exchange for a plea deal. The deal was 12 years in prison for 3 counts of man slaughter. However afterwards, Paul’s 2nd lawyer at the time, gave up possession of 6 video tapes that had originally been hidden above some light fixtures in Paul’s house and had been missed on a police search. Paul had told his first lawyer where the tapes were, to get them, but not to watch the tapes and had held them for 16 months before standing down and giving them to the 2nd lawyer, who subsequently turned them over to the prosecution.

The tapes showed the full details of the assault and torture, but also showed that Karla was every bit as culpable and was in no way this innocent victim she painted herself as. The issue was, that the tapes didn’t actually show the murders, so her testimony was still needed to put convict Paul of murder and not manslaughter.

The tapes were destroyed in 2001, but were obviously the darkest part of the trial. While researching the case, I found that there were transcripts made, that have a frame by frame account of what was on the tapes down to the smallest, horrible details.

The sources are a book called Invisible Darkness and a podcast called the Human Monsters, which is 4 hours long.

Has anyone ever listened to/read either of these? The reviews are pretty appalling of what the transcripts detail.

I think what peaks my interest more, was Karla was released in 2005. She initially married her lawyer’s brother (the fuk?) and had 3 children. I watched her interview that she gave immediately after release, she didn’t show any remorse and stated her family forgave her, knowing full well what she’d done to her own sister. (Hate her family now because of this).

Paul has served the minimum of his 25 year life sentence and was eligible to apply for parole in 2018, which was denied. He’s eligible to apply again in 6 months time from now.

This was obviously a massive case in Canada and they are rightly 2 of the most hated people who live there. There’s currently a ******** group set up which tries to keep track of where Karla is currently living. She’s changed her name numerous times. One of them was Teale, which was the name of a fictional murderer in a film that both her and Paul liked (obviously still very remorseful).

This happened near me. I remember in elementary school we were told about the case periodically during class over the P.A. system. Learning the details of the crimes in ~grade 5 made me nauseous.

This was going on in my neighborhood when I was in highschool. People were legit freaked out that there was a serial rapist on the loose. It would be a few years before he was caught and they discovered that it had progressed from serial rape to serial murder.

This must have been pretty scary to be living through as a young girl especially.This leads me to believe there’s a bigger disposition amongst women to take part in crimes like this than we’re lead to believe. Look at Homolka, zero background issues, just the trigger of the thrill.

I know they meant well but how fuking dense do you have to be to think a pack of goon jocks patrolling the neighborhood is just going to happen to stumble across this guy somehow. Most of his crimes were done where I was born and raised for a good portion of my life (Scarborough, Ontario) and I actually remember this as a young kid since it was just all over the news. Was scary chit that there was a serial killer/rapist on the loose pretty much in our neighbourhood from what my parents told me, it was literally hide your daughters.

There isn't a hell hot enough for both of these two to rot in that's for sure. What they did to that poor little sister is beyond phucked.

With Leslie Mahaffy, she was 14 and in a rebellious phase, she came home late at like 2am. Her parents, to teach her a lesson, ignored her knocking on the door, so she walked to a phone box to call a friend. Paul was unfortunately in the area looking to steal licence plates when by chance he stumbled across her all alone. The more people out and about could have stopped him prowling as much.

Edit: regarding OP, if you watch a lot of these serial killing stories, the female accomplice almost always gets a lighter sentence. It's despicable that our justice system is so corrupt. Look at the Gabriel Fernandez case. The mom, who was the instigator of all the abuse that boy faced, and his own blood relative, got off with life in prison whereas the boyfriend got the death penalty. If you watch her face during the joint sentencing, you can see the gloat in her fat azz face when she looked at her boyfriend.
