When was the last time you heard a song that really blew your mind?
And got you obsessed? The kind of song that you just get really happy about “discovering” it, and years after that you still hear it often.
I remember when I was a teen, and I was just getting my hands on my own computer with internet like 16 years ago, and I just went through a phase of hearing legendary songs, legendary bands, etc.
Songs like November rain, fade to black, Zombie, comfortably numb etc, were just songs that would blow my mind the first time listening to them.
And today it got me thinking, man it’s been a while since I discovered anything. It’s been probably a decade since I last obsessed about a new song. Is music nowadays that bad that I can’t relate to anything new? Has a song come out lately that will still be listened in 2-3 decades ?
So anyway, post in here songs that aren’t that mainstream and you think it could make an impact like that in a person

"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Every now and then I'll catch a beat which I quickly save or snap a photo of. I know it's the biz because I usually tune everything out and if it gets my attention, it's good.
To add to that, those golden years when you're younger or a teenager are nostalgic because you're literally exploring a brand new world. Kind of like visiting a foreign country, you're just sucked in while you absorb your surroundings. Definitely a dopamine release.
Nowadays, I almost strictly play music without lyrics. I use my own thoughts in my head, and "beat to my own drum" if you will. I find music to be deeper and more enjoyable this way rather than listening to some some black guy mumble low IQ babble about nonsense.

Heard this song in one episode of Blue Mountain State and immediately downloaded it because of the dope beat lol. I didn't realize until later that the song was actually about a kid that kills himself because his parents neglected him. Totally blew me away considering it was featured in a fratboy comedy show like BMS.

Probably one of the fit for a king songs off their latest album

There's so many... Don't waste your time on ****ty speakers like your phone or monitor. Get some nice CLEAN highs(treble), mids, and lows (bass/subwoofer).
I've been coming back full circle to deadmau5 for years... some of these songs can make a 4 hour drive go by in a breeze.
Those are super quick ones, I've got so many.

Some lesser known sets I listen to a lot
https://soundcloud.com/vinyljunkiesj...james-6mar2010
I listen to tech/deep house a lot.
I could not find a set. For pop, I like 'Realiti' from Grimes. I just heard it last week.

Epic
Thievery Corporation... I can shuffle their playlist and listen to most of the songs.
Found this weird gem on a long road trip back home.. Little strange but I found it fun... Kind of an Arab/Indian/Native/Mexican beat

Personally I think it relates to one's emotional growth - music *usually* engenders certain emotions that relate to real life experience and that *usually* happens more often when one is young, careless, more open-minded, doesnt judge as much as..
So - one of the issues is criteria, like most stuff in life, looking for a gf for example (or a bf, I don't judge now) - as a teenager the threshold stops on looks, then its gets more complicated bc one must be able to form understandable sentences, at some point the ideal partner becomes an erudite, stunning woman who is smart and has the looks, and later I guess it's just meh - whoever is willing to accept me Im down lol
lately Im impressed by singers who can actually sing, for example I stumbled upon a cover ofwicked games by London Grammarwhich is good but then again I doubt I'll write the date I found it in a diary

Might get some hate, but the song “After Hours” by The Weeknd last February. Hes just a different form of pop artist. 6 minute song, a beginning middle and end, amazing production, great vocals and lyrics, and one hell of a beat drop.
Also that song by Odesza “A Moment Apart” is a stunning song. I discovered that on my SE Asia trip in 2019 and probably played it over 2000 times during that trip.

Heard this going through old 60's garage bands on youtube a few months ago.
10/10 raw sounding garage band.
Quickly snagged a mp3 of it in case it disappears.
