You have to keep most meats (that aren't canned, cured, or heavily processed somehow) frozen if you aren't using them in the immediate future.

Defrosting the meat at room temperature is the best way.
Then I cook...
and eat.
Sometimes I share the meal and nobody notices it's frozen.....food.

I agree, OP, that buying ingredients > premade meals. But it's still better than restaurants. Brb overpriced food, brb chug gas to drive every meal, brb tipping, or even worse get it delivered to you for delivery fees and delivery tip.
A frozen ~500 Cals Chinese dinner costs a little over $3, let's say $3.25. Getting the ingredients (rice, chicken, sauce, vegetables) and cooking it costs less than even $1.50 per serving.
Hot dogs are straight up unhealthy, I'll agree. High sodium high fat. Getting reduced fat variants helps, or leaner meat variants, but it's still bad even then. Gotta admit they're cheap though. I still buy it though, imagine $0.22 per hot dog, and ~$0.4 per wheat bun, equating to less than $2 for 3 hot dogs.
Ingredients (cooking) > Frozen Meals > Fast Food > Restaurants > Restaurant Delivery (Uber Eats /Postmates)
