Most people have no idea how anything works. 60% of people don't know how to put on their spare tire, let alone how a car works, yet they drive one daily. I got negged to the gills for telling holders of BB, AMC, BBBY to get the **** out of those positions. People think they are on some hedgefund heist where everyone makes money and wins, but dont realize they are just in a modern day pump and dump scheme (something that's been around for as long as the stock market) which will produce just as many losers as winners - talking common people here not just a hedgefund.

Felt good about my quick 2 day 40% return but when I saw the misc and my knuckle dragging friends saying 'buy AMC! buy BB!' etc. I knew it was time to GTFO

I actually disagree. Misc is way less of an echo chamber than most of the internet, coz you will actually be called out and challenged and called a ******* here. Most places people interact now don’t even require a confirmation bias because it is 100% confirmation.

heres the thing literally no one knows when its time to get out at this point, i mean god damn if i didnt watch it happen id have called you a retard for saying gme would ever reach 500 but ill be god damned if it didnt crack it. this once in a lifetime volatility right here this will be in finance and history books for decades. This is a modern day enron with how much of a political mess its about to become

but with that said yeah theres an absolute chit ton of people who know absolutely 0 about the market who are about to go bankrupt from this, its going to be a very scary ride down for a lot of people

If this guy wants to sell some of his options and take a profit, he doesn't need to sell the options back to the person who originally sold them to him. Like shares of stock, options contracts are interchangeable with each other, and he can sell them to a third person.

Instead of selling his options, he can also exercise them. If the option gives him the right to buy Gamestop at $12/share, exercising the option means he pays $12 to whoever sold it to him, and the seller has to give him a share of Gamestop. Then he can sell the stock for cash, or keep it.
How can a third person buy them ,if he doesn't sell them back to the brokerage that sold them to him ,how are they on the hook ?

The only way he can cash out is to sell no?

And who is gonna buy them at 47 mill ?

He's basically got a bunch of stuff worth x on paper

But unless someone buys them ,he's got nothing
