There were a lot of cuts in the video. Makes me think it probably took a lot longer and likely required some coaxing to lead it in the right direction.

hamster just did random hamster **** hamsters always do, then it stumbled around until it found a new pathway. Rinse repeat

I doubt it had any understanding whatsoever of task to goal

Fraud.

At 1:48 the hamster knocks the blocks down by running on the wheel, look close at how the blocks fall. The camera cuts and the blocks are arranged differently. They are in an easier configuration for the hamster to climb.

It did not do anything. The hamster literally tried all of the available moves and usually chose the correct action after every other possible attempt.
