But there I go, living down to the spinster stereotype of envy and bitterness. How is it possible that, despite being raised by a feminist mother and enjoying a life rich with friendships and meaningful employment, I still feel the stigma of that word? Or fear that, even in middle age, I haven’t achieved the status of a true adult woman?

They aren't choosing it IMO. I just think a lot of females have inflated standards now, are holding out for a chad, but chad pumps and dumps them. Now they're 30+, past their prime, and they're not willing to date down so they cope by pretending being single is a choice.

There is this crazy notion everyone thinks every single woman out there wants to get married. It's simply not true!! It's not the norm but it's not far-fetched either. And don't ask SS because she is divorced.
