Advice for dealing with plumbers? (26k reps)

Pipes rattle/click loudly when hot water turns on. It’s more than just a water hammer, it’s continuous clicking. I think we got a leak now too as a result.

Plumber coming in tomorrow. Obviously called one with great ratings on Google. Don’t wanna be ripped off obviously but, is negotiating a thing with plumbers?

If you think you have a leak, check your water meter. There's either a dial that spins or digital. It's easy to read. Even if it's a small drip it will make itself apparent. Check crawl space for wet sub floors/floor joists and pooled water.

If you gain a grasp of the the repairs needed in general, it will prevent you from getting bent over. To a degree. Plumbing is actually very easy. I'd make sure it's something absolutely out of your realm before shelling out cash to bubba and his pipe wrench.

1. Water meter dial is moving slowly. Had already checked this.

2. Tried adjusting the pressure from the main and it’s still the same issue

3. Outside wall (shower wall) is a bit damp (BUT, not sure if it’s cause of rain—leftover rain, since no sun hits that area, but it rained about 4 days ago)

The price is usually firm. You get 2-3 quotes and hire the cheaper guy.
