What do you think Was Happening in North America during the Iron Age? srs

south america has some fancy pyramids that we cant really really date(most normal people say 700ish ce tho) but we dont hear chit about north america before the pilgrims. anything noteworthy going on besides teepees and longhouses?

ps-not chitting on that lifestyle in any way. i think we'd all be happier if we lived in teepees/longhouses in a communal way

Im pretty interested in this tangentially as well, but sort of different

British architecture is so much better than american.. but most of america was european whites. Never understood why brits seemingly cared so much/ why more british architecture wasnt implemented here

BUT america is born 1776. Shortly after is the 1st industrialization with like the steamboat and water wheel. Plus textile factory

So america is just burgeoning, and thats early 1800's. Shortly after the textile stuff is the 2nd industrialization. With machines, electricity, etc. Thats when 'murica really took off

Im guessing stuff just became mass produced. And america didnt have enough time to establish itself worrying about architecture

Before that were the 13 colonies, so probably small amounts of europeans. And then the natives.. guessing everything was pretty rudimentary. Again, its not really until the 2nd industrialization that america takes off

Also, the lousiana purchase gave america most of its land. You might be able to find out more by isolating the land and see which country or who was in control of it

Yea surprised that all signs of pyramids stop as soon as you cross into current day America.

There’s nothing in Florida, Texas, California, etc.

You should check out the show Aerial America. Each state has an episode and it goes through the history and shows great images of all the different landscapes and buildings.

Another tidbit. I cant be fuked to find it right now

But fairly recently, prob a few years ago now they found like a hip and femur bone? Maybe a knee? That appeared to be broken by a tool. As in it was a man made object that did it

That was placing people in north america 450k years ago. Tons of controversy around it cause not only would it quash north american history but.. human evolution. The scientists that found it were sending it to other scientists and telling them to test it cause it refuted everything they thought they knew

If you look it up, im sure youll find it

They had civilizations like the Mayans and Aztecs who were quitr advanced for a while. And they had other civilizations in Arizona and Colorado. They are ruins there too.

Since the America's was serperated from the old world ( Asia and Europe) the natives here had no immunity from diseases. So once Europeans came, most of these civilizations were wiped out pretty fast....

Paleontologists have dug up a 130,000-year-old mastodon skeleton that looks like it was smashed apart by humans. But they found it in America, where people were not supposed to have arrived for another 100,000 years.

How could that have happened?

The researchers say they think early humans must have come to America much, much earlier than anyone ever thought. They suggest that other scientists start looking for evidence of people in places they never bothered looking before.

If the conclusions are confirmed, they will turn North American archaeology upside down.

“I know people will be skeptical of this because it is so surprising and I was skeptical when I first looked at the material itself. But it’s definitely an archaeological site,” said Steven Holen of the Center for American Paleolithic Research in South Dakota.

The site includes a skeleton that looks like it was taken apart and broken with stone tools, which are left in place alongside the bones they smashed. One tusk appears to have been stuck upright into the ground.

“It appears to be impossible that a mastodon could somehow force its own tusk into the underlying deposits,” the research team noted in their report
