You are one in a hundred million and then some srs

Average nutbust is 100 million sperm. The odds of that ONE specific sperm penetrating the egg? TINY
Now think of the butterfly effect. You great great granddad altered the tiniest decision, everything leading up to now would be different in your family.

You are the product of an insanely long series of events that led up to an event where your dad was hitting your mom in that EXACT position that meant that 1/100,000,000 got to the egg. Any other of the 99,999,999 sperms would have made another person

Think about how insanely tiny those odds are, and we haven't even gotten started on the bigger picture of the universe

Aren't the sperm all carrying the same dna, so doesn't matter which one?

no. that's the whole point of sequencing and stuff / designer babies. You have multiple sperm and you pick the healthiest one/most desirable traits

Reminds me of an image i've seen ...

It's just playing with some probabilities and honestly it's probably less likely than this estimate.

Yah that's why if you look at a family with six kids, each of the kids is an exact clone of each other.

I figured it was mutations during cell mitosis. Looking it up, each sperm has a random grab of mother and father genes? do I have that right?

If parallel universes exist then it's possible that the sperms that weren't given a chance in your universe may have been successful in alternate universes...therefore you could have infinite sperms in laws out there.
